Start with a square image for best results. Simple designs with bold shapes and high contrast work best at small sizes. Avoid fine details or small text, as they become unreadable at 16x16 pixels. If your logo is complex, consider creating a simplified version specifically for use as a favicon. All modern browsers support PNG favicons, so you can use transparent backgrounds.
