How to Use the GPA Calculator

Add each course by entering the course name, selecting a letter grade from A through F, and specifying the number of credit hours. The calculator computes your cumulative GPA using the standard 4.0 scale with weighted credit hours. You can add as many courses as needed and remove any course to see how it affects your overall GPA. Use the plus and minus grades for more precise calculations.

GPA Scale Reference

The standard 4.0 scale assigns the following values: A equals 4.0, A-minus equals 3.7, B-plus equals 3.3, B equals 3.0, B-minus equals 2.7, C-plus equals 2.3, C equals 2.0, C-minus equals 1.7, D-plus equals 1.3, D equals 1.0, D-minus equals 0.7, and F equals 0.0. Your GPA is calculated by multiplying each grade point by its credit hours, summing those products, and dividing by total credit hours.

Why GPA Matters

Your GPA plays a significant role in graduate school admissions, scholarship eligibility, and some job applications. Many programs require a minimum GPA, commonly 3.0 for graduate schools and 3.5 for competitive scholarships. Tracking your GPA each semester helps you identify areas where you need improvement and plan your course load strategically.
